Holy Toledo: Religion and Politics in the Life of "Golden Rule" Jones
Published in Hardcover by University Press of Kentucky (July, 1998)
Author: Marnie Jones
Average review score:

Christian Socialism: Learned and Applied in Toledo, OH
This book provides a strong background into the man that ran his life, company and a city by the "Golden Rule". In a time when big business ruled and exploited the American worker with slave wages and no protection, "Golden Rule" Jones reshaped and redefined our ideas of the workplace and in doing so challenged a whole generation of reformers. Marnie provides a very well documented book on "Golden Rule" Jones with a heavy emphasis on his personal and professional struggles throughout his life. It provides a great insight into Sam's pre-success years in OH and PA when he had "Oil on the Brain". A must read for any Human Resource or CEO's in learning how to treat their employees with respect, fair wages and good benefits. This book would also be a great asset for any students of religion, sociology, American studies, urban policies and, or history majors. This book will transform you, and you will be transformed by the ideas of S.M. Jone!

A great book. Kids love to dance and listen to the music.
This is a wonderful book. Kids love to listen to the songs and move to the music. They get excercise without really knowing it. My children listened to it hundreds of times and now my nieces and nephews enjoy it. I used it at a kindergarten activity and all of them enjoyed it immensely.

"Hounded!" is Adorable!!
This is one of the cutest little books in the world. The lovable Animaniacs characters Yakko, Wakko, and Dot are grooming and having fun with a bunch of pretty pooches once they get a job at a dog grooming place. They go through a car wash with them, have a pizza party, and make them look gorgeous in a cheesy way-which the owners turn out to love. Anyone would like this amusing story.

How Big Are You? (First Little Golden Books)
Published in Hardcover by Golden Pr (January, 1996)
Authors: Corinne Malvern, Barbara Lanza, First Little Golden Book, and Little Golden Books
Average review score:

A wonderful book for small children
This book is one of my favorites for small children. The poem is very rhythmic and it captures a child's attention. The author compares a child's size to familiar things in the child's world and shows him how big he is getting. The old version with illustrations by Corinne Malvern is so precious. You are very blessed if you have a copy.

I remember my mother reading this book to me, and I'm sure her mother read it to her. I read it to my little sister thousands of times, it seems. I'm fortunate to be able to pass the tradition on to my daughter.

How Sweet the Sound: The Golden Age of Gospel
Published in Hardcover by Elliott & Clark Pub (September, 1995)
Authors: Horace Clarence Boyer and Lloyd Yearwood
Average review score:

A marvelous piece of work
Mr. Boyer captures the essence of gospel music with this wonderfully written document. No other book which focuses on gospel music, which I'm aware of, seems to blend the cultural, spiritual, and historical significance of this genre. Of special note, is the way the gospel sound is heard in various geographic locations in this country. By highlighting Chicago, Philly, and Los Angeles, to name a few, really brings home the spread and influence of the music. Bravo Mr. Boyer, I'm awaiting your next book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
